Jordan nominates "200 meters" for the Academy Award competition
The Jordanian Royal Film Commission said that the film (200 meters) by Amin Nayfeh will represent Jordan in the competition for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in the 93rd edition of the world's most famous award in the film industry.
The film is 90 minutes long and starring Ali Suleiman, Lana Zureik, Ghassan Abbas, Moataz Malhees, Samia Kazmouz Bakri and Anna Unterberger, and it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in Italy in September.
The technical committee formed to select the film headed by Jordanian director Amin Matalqa said, "With its wonderful writing and directing, this film will withstand over the years and occupy a unique position among classic Arab films."
The Academy of Film Sciences and Arts in the United States is receiving nominations from various countries for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film until December 1.
Earlier, Algeria announced the nomination of the film (Heliopolis) by Jaafar Kassem for the award, while Sudan chose the film (You Will Die at Twenty) by Amjad Abu Al-Ala, and Palestine chose (Gaza Monamour) by the two brothers Arab and Tarzan Nasser.
The Academy Awards Announcement and Awards will take place on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.
