The Israeli Knesset approves a law to reopen tourist resorts on the Red Sea
The Israeli newspaper "Yediot Aharonot" reported that the Knesset passed, Thursday evening, a law allowing the reopening of the most prominent Israeli resorts on the Red Sea and the Dead Sea.
The newspaper pointed out that the legislation, called the Tourist Islands Law, was passed by a majority of 26 votes without any opposition, and hotels in the two regions that rely heavily on tourism as the backbone of the local economy are expected to reopen next week.
The newspaper confirmed that the city of Eilat, located on the Red Sea, has declined in tourism due to the emerging corona virus, and Eilat, the city, receives about 2.5 million visitors annually.
Israel began a cautious departure from the restrictions imposed to limit the Covid-19 pandemic, after imposing a comprehensive closure, reopening kindergartens, beaches and parks in light of a decrease in the number of new infections.
