New York Police arrest a woman who carried out the Manhattan run over
New York City police and local media reports said that a car stormed a gathering of about 50 people in a protest demonstration of the important Black Lives Organization Friday afternoon in Manhattan, wounding several people.
The New York Police Department said law enforcement officials had arrested the woman, who was driving, for questioning.
Police said that the injuries did not appear to pose a threat to the life of any of the wounded, and that the car that caused the accident was still present at the site. But few details were available yet.
According to local media reports, six were injured, but it was not clear how many had been taken to hospital.
Some accounts on social media described a chaotic scene around a parked car surrounded by protesters, before the car suddenly moved into the crowd, causing some people and bicycles to tripped.
Police and several local media outlets said the protest was sponsored by Black Lives Important.
