Job Overview/Summary
The Laboratory Technician I is an entry-level technician role that supports professional laboratory staff by maintaining glassware, maintaining logbooks, performing routine QC testing, troubleshooting (problem solving) and helping with special projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Maintains glassware by properly cleaning, drying and storing for later use; manages glassware inventory by ordering, receiving and tracking glassware availability.
Ensures that laboratory supplies are available by monitoring available stock, placing orders as needed and receiving items to support the QC Lab’s process.
Performs routine wet chemistry testing on finished products and raw materials, assays including but not limited to Iodometric titration to determine Vitamin C content, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) Sandwich ELISA to determine Food Allergen levels, pH testing, moisture determination via HMA and water conductivity testing.
Records calibration verifications of analytical balances, pH meters, refrigerators, freezers, temperature-controlled incubation baths and other applicable equipment.
Conducts finished product average weight determination for multiple dosage forms (tablets, capsules, gummies, gel capsules, etc.) and prepares samples for assigned assays or to support the process of Chemists.
Supports routine testing on analytical instrumentation (ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HPLC, HPTLC, or Nitrogen Combustion Analyzer) under the guidance and mentorship of a Senior Analyst.
Performs and documents routine testing of Raw Materials, Stability samples, and Finished Goods in accordance with cGMPs, GDPs & GLPs.
Assures that all work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Perform necessary cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation, as designated.
Supports analytical development via sample preparation, pilot studies, special projects etc.
Performs all other duties as assigned by Laboratory Management.
Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required
Required Education and Experience:
Associate’s Degree, Medical technologist certification, QC Technician certification or equivalent experience (1 – 3 years of experience in a Laboratory setting).
Fluency in English, both orally and written.
Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
Basic mathematical proficiency.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in science from an accredited institution.
Certification in laboratory technology from a certified institution.
Working knowledge and understanding of GMP for Dietary Supplements
