The Miss Sri Lanka winner suffered head injuries after one of her competitors removed her crown and claimed that she should not have won the contest because she is divorced.
According to Britain's Daily Mail, 31-year-old beauty queen Push Bike de Silva was awarded the 2020/2021 title during a concert at the Neelum Pocona Mahinda Rajapaksa Theater in Colombo, which was also broadcast on national television last Sunday.
But Caroline Goree, 28, who won the title in 2019 and is now the world’s lady, snatched the crown from her head in a bizarre intervention on stage.
The award has since been returned to De Silva after event organizers confirmed it was not absolute.
In a stunning clip, Mrs. Gauri can be seen holding a microphone telling the audience: "There is a rule prohibiting women who are already married and divorced, so I am taking steps to get the crown to go second."
She then passed on to Lady de Silva who was already wearing her crown and had it removed from her head, causing the award-winning winner with a head injury.
