The first statement from Uber in Egypt after increasing the prices of its services due to the increase in gasoline
Ahmed Khalil, General Manager of Uber in Egypt, said that the company's decision to increase the tariff rates for its services came after a comprehensive study of the economic impact of the emerging corona virus pandemic, and the recent increase in fuel prices that the Egyptian government implemented last April.
Uber notified its customers today that it raised the prices of its services by up to 25 piasters, due to the recent increase in gasoline prices.
"We had to adjust the prices of the proposed trips to help drivers maintain their level of profits," Khalil told Masrawy.
He added that the company continues to search for various ways to support drivers while facilitating passenger trips at affordable prices.
According to the e-mail that Uber Egypt sent to its customers, the change in the prices of its trips came after the recent increase in gasoline prices, which helps captains to enhance their profits, and the new price will be appropriate for passengers to ensure that there is no decrease in flight requests.
The government decided to increase the price of gasoline of all kinds by 25 piasters, bringing the price of gasoline 80 to 6.50 pounds per liter instead of 6.15 pounds, while the price of gasoline 92 increased from 7.50 pounds to 7.75 pounds, and the price of 95 gasoline jumped from 8.50 pounds to 8.75 pounds per liter, with The price of diesel is fixed at 6.75 pounds per liter.
