South Korea hosts the world's first robot-friendly building
Naver, one of South Korea's largest IT companies, has announced the construction of the world's first robot-friendly building, in which cloud-controlled robots coexist with human workers, through a combination of new technologies such as autonomous driving, cloud and artificial intelligence.
"The building will be completed by the end of this year, next to the company's headquarters in Seoul," said CEO Seok Sang-ok. The company's Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Independent Technology division, Naver Labs, was involved in the development of several robotics-related technologies that were used in 3D mapping of the new place.
"The building will have a global reference space, where the networks of the building will be connected and integrated with 5G, cloud, robotics, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence," Sang added in a statement reported by ajudaily.
Various spaces such as elevators and walkways for robots will also be provided, and the new building will include technical factors such as robot driving, robot control system, accident prevention and low-latency communication with 5G networks.
