Ridley Scott Reveals Plans for Gladiator III Ahead of Gladiator II Release
Renowned director Ridley Scott has revealed that he's already brainstorming ideas for a third Gladiator movie, just two months ahead of the highly anticipated release of Gladiator II. The sequel is set to hit theaters on November 15 and will follow the story of Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, the former heir to the Roman Empire turned gladiator, after his home was invaded by the Roman army under Marcus Acacius, portrayed by Pedro Pascal.

Gladiator II takes place 25 to 30 years after the events of the original 2000 film, which was a major hit, winning the Academy Award for Best Picture and securing Russell Crowe the Best Actor award. This time, the focus shifts to Lucius, who grapples with the legacy and conflicts following the downfall of his family and his rise in the gladiatorial arena.

I feel like I’ve lit the spark of excitement again. The ending of Gladiator II reminds me of The Godfather—how Michael Corleone finds himself in a position he didn’t want, asking, ‘Now, Father, what do I do?’ The next film will explore a man who doesn’t want to be where he is now.”
