Anghami Announces Major Concert by Amr Diab in Cairo This November
Music streaming platform Anghami has officially announced a highly anticipated concert featuring the Egyptian music icon, Amr Diab, set to take place on November 8th in Cairo. The event, dubbed "The Event of the Year," is expected to attract a massive audience, highlighting the significance of the concert in the year's music calendar.
A Landmark Concert and End to Rumors
The announcement comes amid rumors of a rift between Amr Diab and Anghami, especially after many fans noticed that some of Diab's albums and singles had been removed from the platform. These removals raised questions among his followers, leading to speculation about the artist's relationship with Anghami.
In response to the rumors, Hossam El-Gammal, Anghami's Manager for Egypt and North Africa, clarified the situation. He explained that Anghami is a tech company and the right to publish content lies with the owner of the music. Diab, having had an exclusive partnership with Anghami for a period, chose to remove his albums and singles from the platform after the contract ended. However, the artist does not have the right to remove tracks produced by other labels like Rotana, Mazzika, and Sout El Delta, as those companies still hold the rights to a significant portion of Diab’s music.
Amr Diab's Exclusive Partnership with Anghami
In a previous statement in July 2024, Nay—a company owned by Amr Diab—had confirmed that the contractual relationship between Diab and Anghami had ended after fulfilling all obligations, and they continue to maintain a good relationship. This was after the two parties signed an agreement in 2022, transferring Diab’s entire music catalog to Anghami. The agreement gave over 75 million users of the platform access to his extensive music collection, allowing them to enjoy Diab’s most beloved tracks.
