Hudson Joseph Meek, the 16-year-old actor known for his role as a young boy in the Oscar-nominated film Baby Driver, tragically passed away on December 21st, two days after suffering severe injuries from falling out of a moving vehicle in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
The Incident
The accident occurred on the evening of December 19th and remains under investigation by the Vestavia Hills Police Department, according to local NBC affiliate WVTM.
Heartfelt Tribute from His Mother
Hudson's mother, Lani Wells Meek, announced his passing in an emotional Facebook post, stating:
"Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. The sixteen years he spent on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and made a profound impact on everyone he met."
A Promising Career
Hudson began his acting career at a young age, quickly securing notable roles in major productions. In addition to his role in Baby Driver, he appeared in the Emmy-nominated television series MacGyver and lent his voice to commercials for Toys R Us, McDonald’s, and the video game League of Legends.
Beyond Acting
Even at just sixteen, Hudson's talents extended far beyond acting. He was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he participated in football, the honor choir, and student government. Outside of school, Hudson was also an advanced and certified open-water diver by the age of fourteen.

Hudson's legacy will live on through his dedication to organ donation and the establishment of the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a Vestavia Hills High School student. The family has requested donations to this fund in lieu of flowers.
